One of the most
popular New Year's resolutions many of us promise ourselves we will start a new
diet, we will follow it raja table and finally, we will get rid of that fat.
Well, if that was your
goal for 2015 and things have not gone as you hoped, you may have fallen into
one of these myths about weight loss.
These little pills of
supposed wisdom that somehow are embedded in the minds of dieters, even though
they confuse the truth or directly, are totally erroneous.
Let me explain to you
what I mean by my 10 myths about weight loss (in no particular order)...
10. Bananas are fattening
It is a myth so
widespread that it is even easy to believe. The idea that bananas get fat
is pretty silly and totally wrong.
Banana is indeed a very healthy option to take as a snack, rich
in antioxidants and an excellent source of fiber.
They are also rich in
vitamins and provide a good dose of super mineral potassium.
The myth of banana
probably originated from the fact that they contain enough natural sugars, so
they could contribute to weight gain if consumed in large quantities and not
burned with physical exercise.
Try taking one as a
pre - workout meal or throw one or two slices at your cereal breakfast and you
will see how they are a healthy source of energy.
As long as you do not
overdo it, the bananas will not make you fat.
9. Skipping breakfast leads to
weight gain
Let's make one thing clear ... it's not the act of skipping
breakfast which can cause weight gain, it's the idea that when you finally
break the fast at lunchtime, you'll be hungrier and therefore, you'll be more prone
to overeating.
In my experience,
skipping breakfast or "fasting" until lunchtime can actually be a
good way to lose weight.
I continue
intermittent fasting and skipping breakfast my body has no choice but to burn
fat to get a source of energy during the first half of the day.
Simply advocate
moderation at later meals and be careful not to give yourself too many whims.
8. The egg yolk is fattening
It is true that egg
yolk is high in fat, but it is also full of protein. Many discard them
completely and only take the egg white.
Moderation is key. If
you make an omelet of 4 eggs, leave at least 2 of the yolks. They are not
the diet devil as many want to make you believe.
7. HIIT training is the best to
lose fat
High Intensity
Interval Training (or HIIT) has been hailed as the best form of current cardio
exercise to lose fat - however, despite all the studies and research that
support it, personally, I am not the one who It works best for me.
In 2012 I spent
several months performing HIIT both running and in the gym, in an attempt to
remove fat from the lower abdomen. However, until I returned to the LISS
method I did not see the results I expected.
We are all different
and for me to raise your heart rate and maintain it for a period of time
whether running or walking was the best way to burn that fat.
6. Diets do not work - you will
regain the weight you have lost
How many times have
you seen a friend or coworker lose a lot of weight and, full of health and
pride, is responsible for telling everyone how is "new" diet and now
goes to the gym 3 times per week?
And how many times
have you seen that same person 6 - 12 months later exactly the same as before
the miracle weight loss occurred?
At this point, many
will say that there is evidence that the diet does not work and that you will
always regain the weight you initially lose or even get fatter.
How absurd!
It is simply a case of
'new thin' that ends little by little returning to their old eating habits. Once
the target weight is reached, the dieter develops a mentality of "I've
been so good that a little ice cream will not hurt me."
And he's right, having
ice cream is not going to hurt you ... but that attitude soon sets in. Without
realizing it, that person is self-convincing that a hamburger, a bag of chips
or a beer does not hurt you, after how well he has behaved.
If, after having lost
a considerable amount of fat with diet and exercise, you just have to eat again
as before to regain weight...
Make eating healthy
most of the time and exercise regularly is a lifestyle change and you will not
see that fat again ... promised!
5. Eat late at night fattening
It's not about the
time you eat, it's about what you eat.
It is not a good idea
to take a heavy meal at bedtime, even if it is only from the point of view of
comfort. But a healthy snack late at night is not going to make you fat; In
any case will be will help you sleep better and avoid binge in the morning. I
cannot sleep if my stomach is roaring!
Low-protein,
low-carbohydrate foods will be the best kind of options for that evening snack; proof:
- Curd.
- Tuna.
- Omelets with egg
whites.
- Protein shake.
4. The Magic Pill
Unfortunately, there
are still people out there who throw money at pills believing that weight loss
is bought in a bottle and is as easy as taking 2 capsules 3 times a day.
Do not get me wrong,
there are many great supplements that can help you lose weight, such as green
tea extract, CLA and therm genie fat burners. All of them can give you
some advantage, but in reality, a pill will not make you a super model without
a change in diet and exercise.
3. Reduced localized fat
Do you remember all
those girls who attended gluts and belly classes at the gym? These
workouts allegedly contributed to localized fat loss in the belly and buttock.
I regret having to tell
you, but it is impossible to choose, through the performance of certain
exercises or eating certain foods, from which part of the body comes the burned
fat.
All those who perform
hundreds of sit-ups every day hoping that the fat around them will melt ...
they are very far from getting it.
When you diet and
exercise, your body decides where to lose fat and in what order, regardless of
how you train or what you eat - be consistent and even the most frustrating
localized fat will finally disappear.
2. Peanut butter and nuts are
good for losing weight
Browse any health or
fitness magazine and I guarantee you'll find a weight loss diet that includes
whole-wheat toast and a good spoonful of peanut butter.
There is nothing wrong
with that, but the problem is that nuts are promoted as much as a super food for
dieters that many overeat.
Nuts are a healthy
snack filled with protein, but be careful because they also contain lots of
fats.
Eat too many and you
may gain more weight than you want to lose!
1. I'm wide-boned
And the number one
goes to my favorite...
Those desperate with
the diet claim that they simply cannot lose weight by genetics / they have a
slow metabolism / they are of wide bone. If you consume more calories than
you burn you will have a higher percentage of body fat. With a healthy and
balanced diet and some regular exercise you will lose body fat.
It's really that
simple.
